چکیده

Blast furnace slag (BFS) was added into drilling fluid as a mud cake modifier (MCM) for the reuse of BFS. The effects of MCM on drilling fluid rheology and shear strength of cementformation interface (SSCFI) were evaluated. The experimental results showed that the optimized formula of the drilling fluid has 1.0 wt% MCM. The simulation results showed that SSCFI increased significantly with the addition of MCM. Based on the mechanism analysis of BFS as an MCM to improve SSCFI, it is found that the transformation of mud cake to agglomerated cake (MTA) can be the main reason. The trial result of horizontal well I306H in Laojunmiao oilfield in China showed that the one-time success rate of cementing operation was 100% and the high quality rate was 79.78%. This horizontal well is flowing well after perforation with oil production of 11.5t/d and the water cut is only 9%. Compared to the adjacent horizontal wells after fracturing, the oil production rate is increased by 228.57%-259.38%. Obviously, the effect of BFS as an MCM is self-evident. Meanwhile, this research provides a new way for the recycling of BFS.

Technical Effects of Air Cooled Blast Furnace Slag on Asphalt Mixtures

Air cooled blast furnace slag is a by product made of gradually air cooled molten blast furnace slag and is often stored in stockpiles near the iron mills and usually occupy a wide area around the iron mills. From this perspective the further use of these materials can have its own merits. Air cooled blast furnace slag can be used in asphalt mixtures because of their proper frictional propertie...

Effects of Partial Substitution of Styrene-butadiene-styrene with Granulated Blast-furnace Slag on the Strength Properties of Porous Asphalt

The present experimental research investigates the feasibility of partial substitution of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) with ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) for the modification of bitumen and porous asphalt mixtures. The control asphalt mixture and the seven modified porous asphalt mixtures have been analyzed separately and their performance was compared. Modified bitumen and asp...

The Study of Ion Adsorption by Amorphous Blast Furnace Slag

In this study, the blast furnace slag was used as absorbing bed and then, its ionic adsorption was studied. For this reason, various experimental parameters such as pH, contact time and the primary ion concentration were investigated. The remaining concentrations of ions such as; Mn2+ and Fe2+ in water were measured by atomic adsorption spectroscopy. The chemical and p...

Electric Arc Furnace Slag and Blast Furnace Dust, Use for the Manufacture of Asphalt Concrete for Roads

This paper analyzes how feasible it is to use electric arc furnace slag as coarse aggregate, and blast furnace dust as fine aggregate in the manufacture of hot asphalt concrete for roads. Three mixtures were designed using the Ramcodes methodology, the M1 mixture of control with conventional materials, the M2 mixture replacing 50% and the M3 mixture replacing 100% of the conventional aggregates...

Stabilization of Filter Cake and its Leaching Behaviour: A Case Study with Cementitious and Soluble Phosphate Additives

Filter cake is one of the main waste products of zinc processing industries and it contains a high amount of toxic heavy metals. In this research in order to reduce heavy metals leachability in filter cake, Portland cement, natural pozzolan, diammonium phosphate (DAP), triple superphosphate (TSP), lime, zinc oxide and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) have been used. This research’s ...
